Gomed stone is also known as Gomedh, Gomedhak, Raju Ratna, and Ping Spatik, apart from Hessonite which is the most prominent of all. The term of Gomed is originated out of the Sanskrit vocabulary, which in its literal meaning refers to the color of the urine of the cow. This also reflects for the color of the stone. Its appearance also holds some similarity with eyes of an owl. It is counted in the semi-precious category of gemstones.
